Promotional Apparel Intelligence Report
Wearable Branding Do’s and Don’ts
Remember one thing about using wearables in your promotional gift campaigns – this is the most widely used category (used in around 30% of all promotional and branding campaigns) so choose quality and plan ahead to help you stand out in this crowded arena. Companies looking to make a lasting impression with apparel products could really benefit from a few tips found in this new book; Branded for Success: The Entrepreneur’s Quick-Start Guide to Making a Profitable, Lasting Impression. (Morgan James Publishing 2007 by Jim Howard, Heather Kirk, and Chris Howard.
Always give some careful thought as to how your branding elements will be best presented when you pick the type of promotional apparel product you will be using and if that particular product will find appreciation and daily usage in the hands of your prospect or present client. Keep these quick Do’s and Don’ts in mind when making a selection.
Color. Do pay close attention to the color you choose. Aside from representing your brands recognition factor, color has other meaning. For example – Green conveys earth, nature, and even money. Some have been known to feel that the color Brown is equivalent to trustworthy. Research your colors and find out which colors will best convey thoughts that will be associated with your brand. Like when people mention Mac Donald’s you immediately vision Golden arches.
Do consider apparel usage when having your logo designed. Not all of the intricate details a graphic artist can create will be able to get a quality representation when used as an embroidered piece on promotional apparel. Since wearable products get great branding and messaging results, it is well worth the extra thought to make sure your logo and other branding elements are created with apparel in mind.
Do request samples. This is very important when using promotional apparel products. Wash the samples, tug at the stitching, wash them repeatedly, and be very rough with these samples. A quality promotional apparel item will go a long way in saying your brand has integrity.
Don’t make the mistake of compromising between quality and affordability. If someone ever has one of your shirts shrink or come apart after one washing, it will be a direct negative reflection on your brand. As with all promotional items, but especially with apparel, do whatever it takes to ensure quality is there. These promotional products
represent your brand’s integrity. If you ever lose brand integrity, it’s incredibly hard to rebuild. So guard it with quality.
And lastly, don’t build your brand exclusively around a personality. Just think about what you’ll have to suffer if that person does something not so favorable in the public eye.
To make a lasting and profitable impression, promotional apparel items are the winner hands-down. Just make you selections wisely.
