In East Asian culture, the Chinese dragon is very popular as a symbol of power. Although it is a symbol of power, this is not a war-like or military power which is not what the people of China want to be known for. The dragon has been used as a means of identifying the Chinese people from other Asian cultures like the Tibetans and Mongols.
